| My brief bio: |
| I was born in 1978 in Hamburg, Germany. My father is norwegian and my mother is finnish.
I started to study playing flute when I was 7 years old. At 12 I switched to guitar and a few years later I started to study conducting. I studied harmony, counterpoint, music history, analysis, cello, viola and scores by myself for years until I was admitted to Turku Conservatory when I was 21. I studied piano, bassoon as side instrument. I went to study classical composing to Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki. My composing teachers included Erkki Jokinen, Paavo Heininen, Magnus Lindberg and Jouni Kaipainen. While studying I started to score independent films by students of the department of Film and Television of University of Art and Design. I won the first prize in Waterworks composers' competition in 2003 with Agua Nocturna for solo cello and mixed choir. In 2004 I started to help out my mother with her little hobby paperdoll website. We created a product and business plan and founded a company which later became Stardoll.com. I acted as CEO of the company. I stepped away from the company after we secured an investment from Index Ventures and founded a new CEO, Mattias Miksche. After Stardoll I decided to continue my a career in film composing. In 2007 I worked on Miika Soini's internationally acclaimed feature film "Thomas". This was followed by the 2008 EP "Flowers", which has seven songs representing different flowers with the fusion of electronic and orchestral music. I have since written lots of music for TV commercials, a video games and video art. My latest work was Pekka Lehto's feature film "In The Shadow of Doubt", for which I wrote more than 60 minutes of orchestral music (listen). I currently work from my studio in Helsinki. |
